Kynoch Park, Keith
Kynoch Park, home of Keith is not the most popular of Highland League fans. But it is to me for some reason. I have so many memories of coming here and enjoyed every game here. I have never seen Cove lose here either, which is a good thing. The most eventful game I have been to here was a 2-2 draw between Keith and Cove in the Highland League. Keith were a tough team and with new man Darren Still in charge, things were looking better for Keith. They took the lead against the run of play through top scorer Cammy Keith. This was a huge disappointment as Cove were on top of the game for large spells, just couldn't finish. But as the saying goes "If you don't take your chances, the other team will punish you" and that was just the way it turned out to be.
The 2nd half started and Keith were awarded a penalty 15 minutes into the game. A foul on Jonathon Smith led to Keith being awarded a penalty, despite Cammy Keith placing the ball into the net, the referee had already blown. Dean Donaldson stepped up and cooly slotted home and doubled Keith's undeserved lead. 10 minutes were left and Keith were resorting to time wasting and this frustrated Cove and our fans. But a loose ball dropped to Danny Milne and he blasted the ball into the back of the net to give Cove hope. Daniel Park came on and this substitution proved to be vital as he rose to header home a Danny Milne cross and sent the Cove fans wild. A late tackle from Eric Watson earned him a second bookable offence and he was sent his marching orders. But Cove held on and managed to grab a point when it seemed all was lost.
Kynoch Park has an old Grandstand which, when not in use, has a cover which goes over the front of the stand to prevent the seats from rain. There is also a large enclosure which has a roof with panels that are see through to allow light from the sun in. Although the pitch is never cut well and the surroundings of the pitch are mud and dirt, Kynoch Park is one of my favourite days out with Cove. I always see an eventful game, whether goals, dirty tactics or a win. I will definitely be returning to Kynoch Park for more games to come.
